The waterbird, or Anahinga, is the symbol for the Native American Church and is considered sacred for its ability to travel below, on and above the surface. They love to sit by the water with their wings outstretched to dry, giving the appearance that they are praying to the water. They were abundant in Florida, and as an NAC member, I miss seeing them every day.
These fringe beaded earrings are created with a waterbird image, wings outstretched. The iridescent brown bugle beads are reminiscent of the reeds in the water, which is represented by the long silver lined blue bugle beads.
These are big, statement earrings, measuring 1 1/2 inches wide with a drop of 5 inches. They hang from a silver plated ear wire.
