My modern take on the old style traditional jacla necklace. Made up of genuine turquoise, lapis and red coral. If you love southwestern style then this necklace is for you!

At 30 inches long including the jacla, this beauty makes a statement in a big way.

Finished with small sterling silver cones and a large, easy to use silver lobster claw closure.

The jacla style is popular among the Navajo and other native nations of the southwest. The jacla necklace is an ancient style. The word “jacla” in the Navajo language means “ear string” and referred to the two loops of stone tied to the base of the necklace. The loops were worn as earrings during special occasions and ceremonies and tied to the necklace when not in use.

THE STONE MEDICINE:

In traditional thought, Turquoise unites the earth and sky, bringing together male and female energies. Turquoise is a stone of “earth-grounding” and is valuable in preventing one from losing touch with the conscious mind during deep meditations. It provides strength and protection.  Did you know that it is said that turquoise connects with its owner and will grow pale in color if the wearer becomes ill, sometimes losing all color if the wearer passes away, only to regain color when worn again by a new, health owner.

Coral is highly-prized as a substance believed to be endowed with mysterious sacred properties. It is a symbol of modesty, wisdom, happiness and immortality.
